Dear Ila,

The letter writing bet turned into nothing because we both finished in time, but at least I caught up on much belated writing, such as aunts, uncles and other obscure relations. Speaking about being busy, I’ve really been busting my hump around here. We moved into the Punchbowl 2 days ago, and acquired a pig pen, so work is the password. I took over chief computer for the battery yesterday and of course am swamped with work. Must get a whole new set of charts worked up, plus minimum elevation works, plus phones in right and sundry other items. Had to say what rumors are true and which are not, but if your brother is pressing 19, he’ll probably be my replacemen[torn]. Last I heard, Hershey is not going to increa[torn] the total service time, but with so few individuals around he’ll have to do something brilliant to fill the quota. Understand they’ll start working on father[torn] nest, and while I feel sorry for them, I’m not fussy about who replaces me so long as I leave on time. Pleased as Punch to get the picture and enclosed find one as a receipt. Don’t know who squealed, but I have an aversion for dark haired maidens, which, in the vernacular, means I’m a sucker for brunettes. Finding time and words running short, I remain, as usual, right here. Love, Frank
