Dear Aunt + Uncle,

I can just hear you now, Well it’s about time he wrote. I sure’m slow getting around as you can see. I recieve your box. I want to thank you for it. I really enjoyed every thing. Even the snake you st[?]. I sure had fun with it, after I got the scare too. Who’s Idea was that? Jerry. The weather here has finally been nice. We have about an inch of snow, but it won’t last. Its gets around zero at night, warms up a little in the day time, But it’s nice days. I suppose by now, your Grandpa + ma, feel any older Carl? I bet she’ll be a spoil one her. How’s that Jerry coming, married yet? I hear he’s working. Tell’m not to do anything I won’t! The last couple weeks we were bored of sitting on the edge. For all leting the prisoners lose. But every thing came off O’K so we can breath now. Our work has slowed down, so were going to have close order drill one hour a day. Bud will know what that is. Getting more like Basic every day. Well I have 22 more days left in this G_ _ D_ _ Army. Old I wish they would fly by. I sure don’t like it. Mother told me of the nice Christmas dinner you had. Reading what she said, made me hungrey. The chow we have had been pretty good, But you get tired of this Army chow, And to we have 5 in 1 rations 8 days a month. Their’s about 7 boys here from Michigan, 4 from Detroit, 1 Mt. Pleasant, 1 Grand Rapids, 1 Milford. A lot from Calif and Georgia. I suppose Carl is getting all rested up for the spring work. Over here, old pa [?] in carrying his honey, bucket out, boy is that a awful smell, and it don’t go away either. These people, I don’t know, But I guess it’s all right. It’s all straw houes except for those who has stolen wood, have wood house’es. I don’t know how they stand the cool like they do. And they have no intrestce[?] on advancement in life. All they care is that they live. They sure steal the G.I’s blind. Well Aunt Winnie, this isn’t to much of a letter, I’ll try real hard next time. Say Hello to all.

Yours, Jack
