April 17, 54.

Dear Ila,

Today is Easter Sunday, I bet your all dress-ed up in your Easter clothes, really looking like a Queen. I didn’t attend church today. I have no excuse for not attending. But for sure next year when I’m home I’ll be in church. Art told me he recieve your letter. Did he answer it as yet? I don’t know. He is quite a guy. Well the Writes have move, it’s all going to seem funny and having them around, Mother will sure miss them. When I will be coming home, as far as I know it will be some time in July. I’m hopping it’s the first part of July. So you have a pretty special guy on the string now. I’ll still keep that bet. You’ll beat me to the alter. Yes we have a date sit. Some time next May. She can’t before then. We have the radio on and it’s music with the girls. Our radio is sure good company to us. What we would do with out it? Be cozy I guess. That’s sure good, that your mother is losing some weigh. It sure will make her feel alot better. Ila you just keep at her on that diet. I bet Grandpa + ma are sure proud of that baby. Don’t tell me Mike isn’t spoiled. If I know my Uncle Carl and Aunt Winnie, He is, Also I bet you help. Yes, I can’t wait until I do see that. Sherry should be quit a girl. The rice is coming up over here. They will soon be trans-planting it. The wheat also looks good. I heard the farmers to home is having a late fall. Yes Ila I have one trouble. I’m lonesome for home. The time will never come fast enough for me to have here. Boy I know now how Bud felt now. It seems to me, the longer you stay and worst it gets. Yesterday, and the day before it rainning and it looks as if it might clear up today. Here’s hoping it dose. Well Ila, I’m going to close for now, by the time I wash up it will be chow time. By for now.
