Dear Ila,
Sorry that I haven’t writen before this but you know how it is when you are traveling around. I left home for Fort Sheridan, Illinois, on the night of the 7. (sat) We got there Sunday the 8. On the 9 of Aug., we left there for Fort Leonard Wood, MO. You can see I when a long way in a little while.
Yes, the summer when fast this year I hope it go fast next year too. I suppose your getting ready for school to start now day’s. But it will go fast it your last year. Just think right after school is out I’ll be about ready to leave the army. Just 1 more year. That a long time to think about it!
Boy I hate this camp there no place to go, or anything to do. The close place werth going is St. Louis about 120 miles from here. This place is way out in the hill.
I should have some picture at home of myself. I am going to write my mother as soon as I finish your letter, I will ask her to send a few to me in turn. I will send them to you as soon as I get them. Don’t get mad.
I haven’t written to anyone sense I left home your the first one. I going to try and leave this place I hope I can. If I have any luck I let you know were I go to.
Tell Jack I said hello when you see him.
Did you think I forgot about you when you didn’t here from me or what?
I don’t know when I will get another leave but when I do I will try to get up to Michigan, to see you.
Is your girl friend still writing that boy in Korea? How does she like him?
Well I haft to write and let my mother know were I’m at so I will close till I here from you. Here my new addrest.
