Dear Ila,

I recived your lettler tonight as always it good to here from you. Well what have you been doing with yourself working hard? As for my-self I never work hard if I can get out of it. Chicago, a nice place to see I was there for about 48 hours I didn’t see to much but what I did see was nice. I well be glad when spring get here too. I well be close to get out of the army I well be one happy boy. Then I well haft to go to work then. One of the boy and myself just playing around I rip his t-shirt off him it was all mess up anyway. Well tomorrow well be thankgiven and then it won’t be long before Christmas. Then well be my 3rd Christmas away for home. I well be home for Christmas in 55, you can bet on that. Was you in the Senior play? Myself I never wanted to be in any kind of school play. Well last night most of the boys in my hut were putting in for Christmas leaves myself 9 day’s wouldn’t be enough for me to go home for. Well Ila, as I’m not much at writing lettler, I well close for now, hopeing to hear from you soon. Be good and take care of yourself.
